After an enjoyable summer break our Missionary Focus recommenced on Wednesday evening 1st October. Our visiting speaker was Nigel Kissick, UK Director for Gospel Mission of South America.
The work of GMSA was founded in 1823 and continues in Argentina, population 47 million, Chile,19 million and Uruguay, 34 million.

Nigel visited Argentina in January to attend council meetings and the annual missionary conference which were held in Chivilcoy. He also visited newly planted churches. At one of these meetings, he met a family who travel a 3 hour round trip each Sunday to attend a Bible believing church with a Christ centred ministry. Travelling costs each week amount to 10% of their monthly earnings. This tells us a lot about their commitment to join with other believers.
Whilst in Chivilcoy Nigel met Daryl and Earlynne Thompson, two long serving missionaries who have been in Chile for over 50 years working in the Bible Institute and pastoring a local church in the village of Radal – one hour drive from Santiago.
Nigel plans to take a work party there in November DV. The team will be helping to construct a new timber framed church hall with toilet facilities; the old church hall will be demolished to allow vehicle access to the rear of the property. The Thompsons are thrilled with this offer of help.
Nigel shared Matthew chapter 9 verses 37 & 38:
Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.
This passage teaches us that those of us who cannot go are exhorted to pray for others that God will send. Each one of us have God given talents, but what are we doing with those talents??
Are we witnesses? Are we workers? Are we warriors? Are we worshipers?
The challenge to God's people is to keep on praying, keep on supporting, and keep on going.
