Henry Middleton was our speaker on 7th of May 2025 representing MISSION TO MEXICO.

Henry was involved with another mission which ceased in 1984 leaving him wondering WHAT NEXT LORD? After much prayer and searching he was challenged to go to Mexico City which has a population of 30 million, to help minister to the street kids who were living in the basements of ruined buildings following the earthquake in September 1985. That was how Mission to Mexico was born. One young girl Henry met on the street told how she had run away from her village to the city to escape sexual abuse of her father.

She was drawn into a mixed sex gang and was again sexually abused becoming HIV+. Henry shared the gospel with her, telling her of a great God and Saviour who suffered much on our behalf, telling her of the love of Jesus. One night she heard singing as she went down a street and went in to hear the music, she heard the gospel once again and got saved. Unfortunately she has since passed away. Matthew cp11 v28 Come unto me all you who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest.

Dr. Miranda, a medical doctor and pastor and his wife Allia, a Dentist, bought a field for 800,000 Pesos on the north of the city near the village of Otumba. The site was cleared of cacti, and a centre was built for the street kids with separate dormitories for boys and girls housing 60 of each. The site is now well developed with perimeter fencing and football pitch. This complex is used every week to give the street children a holiday and teach them about God’s love for them. Virginia, an international lawyer takes time out to cook for the camps. Young people are taken by bus to the campsite. One girl with a baby in her arms got on the bus, placed the baby on a seat then hurriedly left the scene. The baby was looked after by staff members then some days later the mother was traced, and they were reunited.

Henry spends hours sitting in the street with these young people listening to their stories, befriending them and helping to supply their basic needs, telling them that though few people love them Jesus loves them, and the mission staff love them. Here are some examples.

Henry  met Karen  who was not in great shape and had a broken bone in her foot, he helped get her treatment for her injuries and at hospital discovered she had breast cancer. The doctors gave up on her as her condition was terminal, but the mission did not give up on her. As a result of the love shown to her, she came to the Saviour.

Street children need the Saviour!

Another young mother called Gloria, and her daughter Miriam were also greatly helped. Gloria turned to Jesus and her life is changing, she still has problems, but little Miriam is now 8 years old and attending school. What a difference salvation makes.

One little girl asked Henry as he sat beside her on the kerbstones, “Where will I spend eternity?”  God has promised to give these children rest if they will come to Him through Jesus the only Saviour. Matthew cp18 v14 “Even so it is not the will of your Father who is in heaven. That one of these little ones should perish”.

It is good to be able to support Henry with our prayers and our giving as this is a very needy work going on amongst forgotten and destitute children in Mexico city.
