April’s missionary focus at our Mid-week meeting took the form of an information session. We welcomed Robert Drennan a representative of the work of Christian Institute which was established by the late Colin Hart. Its purpose is to uphold the truths of Biblical principles. The charity is a non-denominational Christian charity which currently has 60,000 supporters spread over 5,000 churches.
In these modernistic days, Christian standards are being attacked by many organisations who have cast aside the moral teachings of the Bible and who seek to remove the influence of Biblical teaching of Gods laws for the behaviour of the human race from our schools and other public places. They are also trying to stifle our freedom of speech and make it unlawful to preach the Gospel in the open air.
The Christian Institute has a team of Christian barristers, lawyers, researchers and advisors who seek to help and represent those who have been unfairly targeted in their work of spreading the gospel. They also represent in court those whose faith prevents them from taking on work which is against their Christian principles e.g. The Ashers Bakery court case.

Christian Institute publishes booklets on a wide range of subjects that are of interest to church groups. These set out clearly from the word of God the teaching on what is sin and the standards that God expects from His people.
Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people. Proverbs 14 verse 34.
Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord. Psalms 33 v 12(a).
Robert shared with us the following verses - 1st Timothy 2 verses 1-4. “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intersessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.”
This passage contains SIGNIFICANT TRUTHS
Verse 1 & 2 PRAYER is important and necessary. We are instructed to pray for all men, for kings and all in authority for the continuance of a quiet and peaceful existence.
Verses 3 & 4. ACTION - It is good to pray that all people will be saved and come to know the truth of salvation. These verses support the proclamation of the gospel. As a nation we enjoy many religious rights and freedoms, but our Christian liberties are under threat. We have a good example from the apostle Paul in the book of Acts cp 16 when despite being imprisoned for preaching the gospel he and Silas prayed and sang praises, and the Lord delivered them.
PRAYER plus ACTION is an important principle.
Christian Institute seeks to help and encourage all who uphold religious liberty. This is most important in these days when fundamental truths are under attack.
