Gary & Christa Baxter visit from OM

Just over two years ago, a young couple, Gary & Christa Baxter visited our Midweek and shared how God had called them to set aside two years of their lives to serve God as workers with OM on board ship Logos Hope. We took them to our hearts and we committed to support and pray for them.

Now two years later they have returned to share with us some of their experiences of how God wonderfully used them, often in dangerous and difficult situations.

After their initial period of training, Gary was assigned to work in the I Café and Christa (a primary school teacher) was responsible for teaching the boys & girls of members of staff. During their time of service they docked in various ports (24 in total) in West Africa, South America and the Caribbean. It was while in the Caribbean they had to put out to sea because of the severe hurricanes. However God was in control and when they docked again several teams went inland to help with relief and share the good news of the Gospel.

Thousands of people, old and young, queued for several hours at every port to visit the book shop which stocks 500,000 books with 15,000 different titles. In Colombia alone, 4,932 were counselled and made the decision to follow God.

Gary has now been appointed as Youth Coordinator for OM UK. Christa is actively seeking a position as P1 Teacher.

We could not help but notice how this young couple have matured in their Christian walk with God, as they faced many, many challenges on board Logos Hope. We believe that God will continue to use them in His service in the days to come.

Please continue to remember them in your prayers.
